The ingredients needed to make Courgette and Smokey Cheese Roses:
  1. Take 1 packet(10 slices) Smoked Cheese
  2. Take 2 large Courgettes

In a medium bowl, mix flour and egg, then stir through squeezed. Courgette Fritters are usually made with grated courgettes (zucchini), plus a binding ingredient like flour or breadcrumbs and eggs, plus herbs for flavour. They are usually then fried in hot oil in a pan. You can do this with this recipe, however, I prefer to bake them in the oven so that they are less greasy.

Steps to make Courgette and Smokey Cheese Roses:
  1. Remove top and tail from courgette, then using a wide peeler, peel wide strips the length of the courgette.
  2. Lay out the strips, overlapping the ends and edges.
  3. Cut the cheese slices in half and lay along the vegetable strips.
  4. Roll up as tight as you can and place in an oven tin, sprayed with oil to help prevent sticking.
  5. Cook in a medium hot oven for about 15-20 minutes.if you try this, please add a photo to Cookpad!!

They are usually then fried in hot oil in a pan. You can do this with this recipe, however, I prefer to bake them in the oven so that they are less greasy. Remove and sprinkle grated cheddar cheese over. This is a very quick and easy vegetarian supper dish for two people, especially good if you grow your own tomatoes and courgettes and have a glut to use up. You could also serve it as a starter for four people.
